Domain Authority
A metric predicting how well a website will rank on search engines. Built slowly through high-quality content and inbound links from other respected sites.
Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking metric developed by SEO analytics providers (such as Moz, Ahrefs Domain Rating, or Semrush Authority Score) predicting a website's likelihood to rank on search engine results pages.
Factors Influencing Authority
- Quantity & Quality of Backlinks: High-trust editorial links from reputable, relevant root domains pass significant link equity.
- Root Domain Diversity: Earning 10 links from 10 distinct authoritative websites is vastly superior to 50 links from a single source.
- Spam Signals: Avoid unnatural link velocity, link farms, or manipulative directory schemes that trigger manual actions.
While search engines like Google do not explicitly use a proprietary metric named "DA" internally, it correlates strongly with raw PageRank and algorithmic trust.
